HAL Pictures is an independent film production company founded by Husni Hafid and Alan Hopkins.

We established HAL Pictures in 2020 to develop and produce distinctive Irish film and television. We are drawn to character-driven stories that explore contemporary life, often focusing on people on the margins of society and the choices that shape their lives. Alongside English-language work, we have a strong interest in stories told through Irish.

Our films have been supported by Screen Ireland and premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh, where our latest short, A Knock At Your Door, won the award for Best Cinematography. We are currently developing our debut feature, Sp(k)ink, with Screen Ireland support.

Alongside our own productions, we work with writers and filmmakers at every stage of development, offering script development, creative producing and production services. We believe the best films are built through collaboration, and we're always interested in meeting writers, directors and producers with ambitious stories to tell.
